She was born in Japan to parents that were American and Japanese. Her mother was from Brick, New Jersey and her father was from Hakone, Japan, where she was raised until her father died. He died in an accident while working when she was very young and her mother decided to move back to the United States when Chemica was ten years old.  Chemica’s Mother was very artistic and crafty and did a lot of fashion designing. Chemica would sit and watch her mother draw and design various clothing for many of her clients as a child and she would make similar clothes for her Barbie dolls. Her father was a craftsman the designed and built furniture for the Emperor Showa, also known as Hirohito (who reigned from 1926-1989). But as time went on she became interested in clay, photography, crafts and mixed media art, so she decided to take a summer course in art. During her summer training she learned to do so many things in art that she decided to become a mixed media artist, where she can use her love of crafts, photography and clay, to make her many masterpieces to share with others. She uses mix media as a way to give her paintings and art a substance of touch, like touching embellished fabrics used in a clothing fashion design industries. She is a young artist and has been in the field for about five years and tries to experiment with many textures and art supplies. Although she has not had any art show openings for herself, she shows off her talent at various cultural affairs and flea markets in hopes to open her own gallery in a few years.
